Children’s Programs
In our community, parents need to work. But success in the workplace is predicated up on peace of mind. Parents’ trust in the integrity of the program and caregiver greatly influences workplace success. Children whose true needs are satisfied, become healthy adults who enhance the vitality and quality of their communities. To meet parent needs, the Nursery cares for children six weeks of age through the fifth grade. Our programs provide increased curriculum and developmental support for difficult-to-care-for and under-served child populations.
Special Needs
The Nursery cares for children with emotional, social, behavioral, and physical special needs through classroom mainstreaming. Experienced staff and group sizes averaging 12 children per classroom facilitate positive interaction and limit distractions that are so debilitating to special needs children. Collaboration with Children and Youth Services of Palo Alto provides professional observation, guidance, and counseling to teachers and parents working with these children.
Health Care Concerns
Health care is incorporated into the Nursery day. Carefully balanced meals and snacks provide a significant part of each child’s daily nutrition requirements. Health education and hands-on classroom activities such as toothbrushing and food preparation encourage practical care routines. Immunization requirements and tracking encourage parents to secure proper and timely protection for their children. Vision screenings are offered through cooperation with area organizations. As a member of the San Jose Child Care Consortium, we receive annual funding for a shared professional counselor. The counselor observes and assesses children, trains staff, and supports, counsels, and educates parents.
